“Where there is an absence of prayer there will be an absence of power. Where there is frequency of prayer there will be a continuing display of God’s power.” -Dick Eastman (The Hour that Changes the World)
Learning to pray is the highest priority of the believer. Jesus’ disciples knew this. They watched Jesus’ life and saw that it was His prayer life that produced a life of miracles and power. So, they said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). Jesus then went through an “activation” class with them, teaching them to pray effectively.
As we are quickly approaching 2016, the Lord is saying, “my people must learn to pray effective prayers.” He is saying, “the world has come to a critical juncture; harvest time is upon the church, and if she doesn’t learn how to effectively pray, the window of opportunity for this particular harvest can be missed.” 2016’s primary emphasis will be honing the CN, NCCA, and our own individual homes into “A House of Prayer” mindset. Prayer must be as natural as breathing for the believer. Breakthrough, supernatural, powerful, fervent, Throne-shaking prayer must become as natural as breathing for the believer this season.
Today, take some time to learn about prayer. Read “Intercessory Prayer” by Dutch Sheets, “The Hour that Changes the World” by Dick Eastman, “Praying with Power” by C. Peter Wagner, and/or anything on prayer by E.M. Bounds. Be prepared to lift your voice in this time. Our greatest victories won’t be from pulpits, microphones, or musical instruments; our greatest victories will be in prayer closets and in corporate altars at the front of churches.
Quick pointers for immediate development:
- Pray in the Spirit More – if you pray in the spirit 20-30 minutes a day, increase that. Stretch yourself in this season. Allow more time for utterance to be released.
- Listen more actively – Holy Spirit led and empowered prayer will be the only prayer that truly makes a difference in this season. Learning to listen with more awareness is vital. Journaling what the Holy Spirit is saying is vital as well. Take time to journal and listen.
- Pray the Word of God – as you read the Word, pray the Word. Take time to speak God’s Word back to Him. It will shift EVERYTHING.
