One of the greatest challenges of believers is to eat, spiritually. We have churches filled with people who know how to worship but who are starving spiritually. The real problem is that they do not know that they are starving. The answer to this problem is extraordinarily simple, the Bible. Making the Bible/The Word of God a priority is of the utmost importance, and then using that Word with wisdom is equally important.
When we learn to look at Scripture, all scripture, and use it to feed our spirits, then we will truly begin to move into what God has for us. An example, let’s look at Luke 1 for a minute…
Luke 1: 11-17
And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous–to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Take a few specific areas in the passage, underline them (as I did here), and make them personal. Here is what I would do with the above scripture: “As I worship, angelic activity increases around me, and revelation comes to me. I am filled with the Spirit. Because I am filled with the Spirit, I draw many people to God. I stand before the Lord, always, and because of that, I am used to reconcile people to one another and prepare them for the Lord.”
Taking Scripture and making decrees and declarations is how we feed our hearts, it’s how we apply the Word. Take the Word today, and do some amazing, reigning-with-Him stuff.
