POWER!!!! But wait, what about SUPER POWER? What about SUPER POWER GREATER THAN ANY OTHER? Would you believe that God wants you to experience His own power? God wants His people to understand that they are partakers of the divine nature. Today, let’s look at a couple of words from Ephesians…
In Ephesians 1:19, Paul is writing to the Ephesians. In this passage, he is praying for the Ephesians to know something. He prays that they know the “huperballo dunamis” of God. The NIV Bible translates these Greek words into “incomparably great power.” Holy Spirit inspired the apostle Paul to pray that the people of God would know the incomparably great power of God. Often believers walk around never discovering the power of God that is far above anything else in our lives. It would have been awesome if the prayer had just been for them to know the power of God. But the prayer is to know the incomparable great power.
Dunamis is of course the Greek word found in Acts 1:8. We see that Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit in our lives will give us POWER to be witnesses. Power is a very important word in the New Testament. We need the power of God to do what God has called us to do – the dunamis power of God. We get our English words “dynamic” and “dynamite” from the word dunamis. So, Paul is praying, “God show them the Huperballo dunamis!!!
Huperballo means “to throw far beyond.” We get our word “hyper” from the Greek word huper. This prayer is for us to know the power of God that is so far beyond what we have experienced before. So, my question today is, “how are we doing?” Have we experienced this over the top, far beyond power of God yet? If not, what’s holding us back? Could it be that we ourselves are uncomfortable with the power of God? Could it be that we are nervous about paying the price for the power?
Dead raising power is “Huperballo.”
Sick healing power is “Huperballo.”
Victorious living daily is “Huperballo.”
We must become acquainted with the far beyond, incomparable power of God. Let’s cry out the prayer of Paul today, “Father, let us know the huperballo dunamis of God.”
